The Ring of Honour of SOS Children's Villages

 

The Ring of Honour can be awarded to SOS mothers and fathers after a minimum of 10 years of continuous service in this very function as a special appreciation of their challenging commitment and a thank you for their performance.

The bestowal is organized in a solemn ceremony in the operation country of the respective mothers and fathers. The rings are presented to the future bearers by either the president of the Hermann Gmeiner Academy, the president of SOS Children’s Villages International or members of the board of Hermann Gmeiner Academy.

The very first bestowal took place at the children's village in Imst in 1954, the rings were presented by Hermann Gmeiner himself.
