We are a platform dedicated to the professional exchange, training and further education of the employees of SOS Children’s Villages and the location of many conferences essential to the organisation’s work. Our archive constitutes the memory of SOS Children’s Villages. Additionally, our research also focuses on topics relating to childhood, family and organizational culture.
Furthermore, the academy is responsible for the distribution of awards recognizing the special commitment and achievements of program participants and employees around the world. Our house is also open to the many friends of SOS Children's Villages and other social organizations and can be booked on a collaborative basis. Our heart and professional commitment is for a world of tomorrow in which all children are respected, loved and supported in their development so that they have many opportunities for a self-determined, happy life.

Overview of participants
Against the background of the war in Ukraine and the resulting unbelievable suffering for the population, more than 4 million people are currently fleeing the affected areas and some are also coming to Austria.
Among them are many minors, some accompanied, some unaccompanied.
SOS Children’s Villages Austria in coordination with SOS Children’s Villages International started a program for emergency basic care for children and young people; this will be implemented at various locations throughout Austria.
The SOS Children’s Villages Hermann Gmeiner Academy is one of the places where this type of emergency basic care program can be organized and carried out.
We ask you for your understanding that the usual rooms and seminar operations at the Academy will be discontinued from Monday, the 21st of March 2022 in order to help those who have to endure the greatest suffering under the given circumstances.
